Marketing Consulting Lead
There is an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Consulting Lead to join Onni Capital in Vancouver. Onni Capital is a new investment and company building platform within the Onni Group. Operating at the intersection of a venture studio, private equity firm, and family office, we build new companies, invest in exceptional founders, and pursue opportunities where Onni's capital, operating platform, real estate portfolio, and industry relationships create a meaningful advantage. Onni Capital is being built from the ground up with the speed, ambition, and working style of a technology company. Our team works across venture creation, technology, private investments, fund investments, and special opportunities. This role owns everything Onni Capital shows the world, sells marketing as a service to the companies in the portfolio, and runs both like projects that actually ship. Onni Capital is a new brand attached to a fifty year old real estate company. Nobody outside the industry knows it exists yet. Building that from zero is the first half of the job: the identity, the launch, the website, the press, the events, the podcast, the video, the social presence. The second half is commercial. Panni Consulting sells marketing services to Onni's portfolio companies and to external clients. Most portfolio companies do not have marketing capability in house and cannot justify building it alone. You will run that as a service line with real revenue attached. Underneath both halves sits the part that decides whether any of it works: disciplined project management. Multiple launches, campaigns, events, client engagements, and productions running at once, each with an owner, a deadline, a budget, and a defined outcome.
Responsibilities
- Own the Onni Capital brand — Own everything public facing for Onni Capital, including brand identity, positioning, messaging, and visual standards across every channel
- Own the Onni Capital brand — Run the Onni Capital brand launch as a defined project, coordinating the website, social handles, press, fund announcement, internal stakeholders, dependencies, deadlines, and launch readiness
- Own the Onni Capital brand — Own the Onni Capital website end to end, including build, content, launch, measurement, and ongoing development
- Own the Onni Capital brand — Own press and public relations, including announcements on investments and acquisitions, media relationships, and the press release process
- Own the Onni Capital brand — Approve all public facing material produced by anyone at Onni Capital. Nothing goes out without passing through this function
- Events and community — Design and deliver the events programme, including the Onni Capital conference in Vancouver, founder dinners, industry mixers, panels with portfolio operators, and demo days
- Events and community — Own event delivery from concept through execution, including budgets, timelines, vendors, sponsorships, guest lists, run of show, promotion, and post event reporting
- Events and community — Build the sponsorship model, including partner firms as event sponsors and Onni's sponsorship of industry organisations
- Events and community — Run influencer and affiliate partnerships, using Onni's hospitality and property assets as currency
- Events and community — Manage the podcast and video series programme, including format, guest roster, production schedule, distribution, and performance, working with the Videographer and Content Producer
- Marketing as a service — Build and sell the marketing services line to Onni portfolio companies and external clients, including campaigns, positioning, creative, digital presence, and ongoing marketing programmes
- Marketing as a service — Scope engagements, define deliverables, build project plans, assign owners, set timelines, manage client expectations, and ensure work ships on time
- Marketing as a service — Set the rate card with the Technology Consulting Lead and the Controller and manage every engagement to revenue and margin targets
- Marketing as a service — Deliver marketing programmes for portfolio companies across construction, industrial services, technology, and data centres, each with a different audience and buying cycle
- Marketing as a service — Manage multiple client engagements concurrently without allowing deadlines, quality, scope, or communication to drift
- Marketing as a service — Report on consulting pipeline, revenue, margin, project status, campaign performance, and material risks
- Project management and operating discipline — Build and own the marketing operating system across Onni Capital and Panni Consulting, using clear project plans, owners, milestones, deadlines, budgets, and measures of success
Requirements
- Six or more years in marketing, brand, communications, agency, or consulting environments, with meaningful ownership rather than execution against someone else's plan
- Demonstrated experience launching a brand or repositioning one, ideally from a standing start
- Strong project management capability. You can take an ambiguous objective, turn it into a workplan, coordinate multiple contributors, manage dependencies, and get the finished work out the door on time
- Evidence that you have successfully managed several substantial projects or client engagements at once without losing control of details, deadlines, budgets, or stakeholders
- Strong commercial instinct. You can connect marketing activity to pipeline and revenue, and you are comfortable being measured on it
- Real events capability. You have run events people actually wanted to attend, from concept through to the room being full
- Content and creative judgment across video, social, written, and event formats, with the ability to direct producers and creators rather than only brief them
- Public relations and media experience, including working with press and handling an announcement cycle
- Experience managing creative team members and getting good work out of them
- Demonstrated ability to use modern AI tools for content production, research, campaign development, project management, and analysis
- Strong writing. You can write a press release, a landing page, and an executive summary, and they should each sound different
- Comfort working in a small, fast moving team where you will build the process as you go
- High personal standards for accuracy, quality, ownership, organisation, and follow through
- Nice to Have — Experience marketing in financial services, private equity, venture capital, or professional services, where the audience is sophisticated and the claims must hold up
- Nice to Have — Experience in real estate, construction, hospitality, or technology
- Nice to Have — Experience running an agency or an in house team that served multiple internal clients
- Nice to Have — Podcast or video series production experience
- Nice to Have — Existing media and influencer relationships in Vancouver or nationally
- Nice to Have — Experience with website development, SEO, paid acquisition, and marketing analytics
- Nice to Have — Familiarity with tools such as Claude, Linear, Slack, or similar platforms
Why join
You will not be inheriting a brand book and a content calendar. You are deciding what this brand is. The assets available are genuinely unusual. Onni owns penthouses, hotels, restaurants, a boat, a jet, and buildings across six North American cities. Those are marketing currency for events, influencer partnerships, and content that competitors simply cannot produce. The plan already includes an Onni Capital conference in Vancouver, founder dinners, industry mixers, a podcast hosted by the executives, and flagship video series shot on location. Marketing here has a direct commercial purpose. Brand drives deal flow. Deal flow drives the business. You will be able to trace what you build to actual transactions rather than to impressions. And there is a business inside the function. The marketing services line has revenue targets and portfolio company clients, which means you are running a practice rather than a cost centre. How We Work Onni Capital is being designed as a high ownership, low bureaucracy team. We work in small project groups, test ideas quickly, put early products in front of users, and make decisions based on evidence rather than hierarchy. Team members are expected to: • Challenge assumptions and communicate directly • Take responsibility for outcomes, not simply produce recommendations • Use modern AI tools to work faster and produce better results • Share unfinished work early and improve it through feedback • Move comfortably between strategic analysis and hands on execution • Know when to continue investing in an idea and when to stop • Operate effectively without a detailed playbook This is not a role for someone who wants months of consensus building, a rigid job description, or a narrowly defined set of responsibilities. It is for someone who learns quickly, takes initiative, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and wants to help build something from the ground up. You are building a brand, a consulting business, and the operating system behind both at the same time. The expectation is high ownership. If it is public and it says Onni Capital, it is yours. If Panni Consulting commits to delivering something to a client, you are responsible for making sure it gets delivered. This is ultimately a builder and operator role. Good ideas matter, but disciplined execution matters more. Onni Capital is creating a new headquarters in downtown Vancouver designed for builders, founders, investors, product teams, and portfolio companies, not traditional corporate administration. The space is intended to become a home for company creation, collaboration, product demonstrations, investment discussions, founder events, and the broader Onni Capital community. Team members will receive: • Direct exposure to senior Onni executives, investors, operators, developers, and founders • The opportunity to help launch products and businesses from the ground up • Access to Onni's operating businesses, technology resources, real estate portfolio, and investment platform • Competitive compensation and a discretionary performance bonus • A comprehensive company paid benefits package • An annual education and professional development allowance • Regular product demonstrations, founder sessions, investment discussions, and team events • Free access to a fully equipped gym • Friends and family rates across participating hospitality brands • Employee discounts at participating restaurants, retailers, fitness providers, and other businesses • A generous employee referral program Onni For over half a century, Onni has been building communities for people to live, work, and play. Our success reflects our commitment to our employees and partners, and our dedication to quality construction, innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. Our expertise expands across North America, with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix, and Chicago. AI Use This role may involve the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support research, analysis, content development, design, reporting, or operational efficiency. Employees are expected to use AI responsibly and in compliance with company policies, data privacy requirements, confidentiality obligations, and applicable laws. All AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs must be reviewed for accuracy, quality, and appropriateness before use. Employees are also expected to disclose when AI tools have been used in the creation of work and must not present AI-generated content as solely their own original work.
